Specialists in gender identity development

Kelly Psychology offers a specialist gender identity service for children, adolescents and adults.

Our gender service is based out of Hackney, East London, with additional in-person clinics in Dublin. The majority of our services are provided over Zoom to clients across the UK and Ireland.

We are committed to offering a comprehensive gender service, in line with best practice standards, for each of our clients. We provide our clients with access to specialist clinical skills and expert knowledge acquired over many years working at NHS gender services.

Gender Services

Specialist Gender Assessment

We provide specialist gender assessment for children, adolescent and adults. Including family where appropriate.

A full gender assessment is conducted and recommendations made. Where appropriate the report can be used as an onward referral to an endocrinologist.

Specialist gender assessments vary in the number of meetings required, however as we take a developmental approach, it tends to take around 6 meetings. For those under- 18 years, at least one appointment must take place in-person. The session number may vary depending on the client’s needs. A full specialist gender assessment report can be provided where relevant.

Our practice is guided by WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Standards of Care and NHS England Service Specifications for Gender Services.

Specialist Psychological Support

Extended gender exploration work pre-assessment for those early in their gender development.

This service also covers those who have completed a specialist gender assessment and require ongoing gender support. Gender Support sessions take place when further space for exploration and ongoing review is needed.

Gender Training and CPD

Update

Recently some patients have been successful in applying for an Individual Funding Request (IFR) from their local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group. This has allowed them to have their assessment fully funded by the NHS. You may therefore wish to consider this funding option with your GP. See this webpage for an example of what the process involves https://www.nwlondonccg.nhs.uk/services/your-health/individual-funding-requests.
